The
Abercorn Street Service in Paisley
is currently recruiting for a number of
Housing Support Workers (Relief)
in our busy team on an as and when required basis. We provide accommodation
as well as care and support to young people and adults experiencing homelessness. We support people who may have difficulty engaging due to issues of mental health; alcohol and/or drug addiction issues; criminal justice issues; may have experienced trauma and/or domestic abuse issues.
Our mission is for individuals to develop social and practical skills, to be confident and progress to independent living and recovery in their own tenancy.
Can you deliver high-quality person-centred support enabling people to meet their personal outcomes? Are you motivated and compassionate; care about people’s wellbeing and understand social care? Can you encourage people to engage? Do you want an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge? Are you committed to delivering safe and high-quality care and support? Do you want to work as part of a team that provides safe, compassionate, high quality care?
If you have these qualities, are hard-working and understand the stigma homeless people can face then we want you to be part of a developing service supporting people who may be reluctant to engage.
The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for involving people in assessing their needs, developing and implementing outcome-focussed person-centred support plans that the team will follow contributing to positive outcomes for the individuals we support. The successful candidate(s) will be adaptable, understanding changing needs.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to respond to and manage crisis situations that may arise and will be able to demonstrate a therapeutic approach that is non-judgemental and supportive whilst also considering everyone’s safety and well-being.
Qualifications or experience are not essential. We offer excellent support, training and a starting salary of £9.30 per hour.
For this post the successful candidate(s) must have excellent organisational, communication and written skills and be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of those we support. You must have or be able to attain the appropriate qualification(s) to enable registration with SSSC.
You must be willing to undertake regular shift work.
If you are looking for a new challenge, this may be the position for you.
We value our staff very highly. Alongside competitive terms and conditions we also offer membership of both an employee benefits scheme and a credit union, plus numerous training and development opportunities, including SVQ registration level qualifications.
Appointments
are made subject to satisfactory membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, satisfactory references, SSSC registration and appropriate checks.
All posts are currently subject to Job Evaluation.
